Well that all sounds totally reasonable! *panic*

Well, since the only real distress she suffered from meeting P was from other people not accepting/seeing her friend, perhaps this is not the best tack to take with her.
Besides, wasn’t it the doctor who jumped out of the closet to start all this? I suppose I need to go back and check, but that takes, what, a full minute of effort? Why do that when I’ve already spent so much time typing this out…. =P
Well, I think it is that the only distress she’s suffering from now is that this mind flayery thing has programmed her to feel distress.
It seems to me like it’s trying to protect her from the amortals in a manner not too different than what Peaches felt like she needed, until the realization that she was actually more comfortable being aware of what was going on around her. The big differences it can actually *do* it, and it’s less interested in hearing from her that this isn’t the kind of help she needs.
